You Could be Losing Your Hair – and Your Shampoo Might be the Culprit! Each year, millions are caught in the seemingly endless battle against hair thinning and loss, while the solution could be hiding in their very own bathroom – in their shampoo bottle. You might not realize this, but the shampoo you’re using can play a critical role in determining the thickness, structure, and overall health of your hair. Exciting results from numerous recent clinical studies have shown that the right shampoo could promote hair growth, especially when used with the right accompanying products. Sadly, many are oblivious […]
Why Is My Hair Falling Out: Start Here
So you’re losing hair? Maybe you’ve noticed more strands in your brush, or your ponytail feeling thinner, or perhaps you’re seeing concerning patches in the mirror. Maybe you’re worried about genetics, stress, or nutritional deficiencies. Maybe you’re looking to understand if your hair loss is normal or if you need intervention to prevent further loss. Well, you’ve come to the right place!
In this article, I’ll break down everything you need to know about hair loss, but for an even deeper dive, check out a comprehensive guide I co-wrote with top dermatologists.

What is Hair Loss?
Let’s start by defining what we mean by hair loss. Simply put, this is a condition where you’re losing more hair than your body is able to replace. Does this sound scary? If you’re wondering about normal shedding, genetics, and other factors that might be causing your hair loss, I would recommend reading our clinical research guide where we break down the science behind hair loss.
This one with Dr. Andrew Huberman, and this one with Dr. Peter Attia are particularly popular. Once we accept the notion that hair loss is often multifactorial and can be addressed through various interventions, we are ready to dive into what to do about it. First, let’s talk about whether your hair loss is normal.
Is Hair Loss Normal?
You bet it can be! Your body has been shedding and replacing hair throughout your entire life, with a natural cycle that’s been refined over millions of years of human evolution. We know from medical evidence that humans naturally lose 50-100 hairs per day as part of the normal growth cycle. Our research found that of hair follicle cycling show that at any given time, about 90% of our hair is in the growing phase, while 10% is in the resting or shedding phase. Historical evidence shows that humans have been treating hair loss naturally, lots of natural treatments. I strongly believe that a botanical intervention is THE most effective approach to hair loss, and that treating it this way is the best thing we can do for both quicker results and long-term health. There’s a lot to unpack about such a bold claim, I know. Read on.
Perhaps you’ve heard that all hair loss is permanent or that nothing can be done about genetic hair loss. These claims are simply not true. We has extensively documented this in our clinical research, and we have a detailed blog post about DHT and genetic factors coming soon. One of the little known facts about hair loss is that even genetic hair loss can be effectively managed when caught early and addressed properly. Rest assured that understanding your type of hair loss and addressing it appropriately (as I describe below) will provide the best chance for maintaining healthy hair growth. Let’s talk about that!
Health Benefits of Addressing Hair Loss
If you glance at our Instagram or read through our testimonials page, you’ll find hundreds of success stories from people who have experienced incredible improvements in their hair health using our products. One of the most profound benefits is the psychological improvement. We know that hair loss can be a source of stress and anxiety, and that addressing it results in better confidence, self-image, and overall well-being. Because hair health is connected to overall health, our customers often report improvements in energy, skin quality, and nail strength when following our protocol.
I hesitate to even call this a “treatment,” it’s more of an overall lifestyle change, and I think it’s best thought of in that way. You shouldn’t feel like you are fighting a losing battle. When you are addressing hair loss holistically with clinically tested ingredients, you are improving your entire body’s health!
What Can You Do About Hair Loss?
In its most basic form, addressing hair loss consists of understanding the root cause and applying targeted interventions. This simple approach has helped many people, but I think there is a better way to construct a hair recovery protocol that allows for more comprehensive treatment (making it more effective) and a better success rate. Our research team has studied traditional remedies and modern science to develop what we call a “root-to-tip” approach to hair health.
A root-to-tip approach certainly includes high-quality nutrition (preferably whole, nutrient-dense foods), but it also includes proper scalp care, stress management, and hormone balance. We’ve published a detailed guide about how to construct a “root-to-tip” hair care routine, and what to do for different types of hair loss, which you can find in our blogs. In general terms, most successful hair recovery protocols consist of both internal and external approaches. The key elements are things like proper nutrition (iron, biotin, and protein are particularly important), stress management, scalp care (including massage and proper cleansing), and for some people, targeted formulas like the clinically tested Bio-Pilixin.
A word about DHT blockers: For many people, DHT blockers can be effective, often improving genetic hair loss and slowing further loss. If you are going to use DHT blockers, we recommend starting with natural options first. We go into more detail about natural vs synthetic DHT blockers in our comprehensive guide to genetic hair loss, but the quick version is that natural DHT blockers like saw palmetto and pumpkin seed oil can be effective without the potential side effects of synthetic options. As shown in clinical trials, there’s strong evidence that natural DHT blockers could help with hair loss. Most synthetic DHT blockers can have side effects, however natural options tend to be better tolerated.
Our research found that a different combination approach works best, as documented in our science review.
What Do You Need To Help Stop It?
This is going to vary from person to person based on your individual type of hair loss, severity, and goals – whether you are interested in maintenance, regrowth, or looking to address an underlying medical condition. Generally, I recommend people let symptoms be their guide. Hair loss can have many underlying causes, especially when we’re looking at nutrition and stress factors. There are probably a few things which trigger increased hair loss, and nutrient deficiencies (vitamins and minerals) appears to be one of these. Many people find that by including proper nutrition, specifically iron and biotin supplementation, they see less shedding.
Here’s a basic template of what I would suggest in terms of treatment approach:
- If your goal is maintenance, I would focus on nutrition and scalp care. Aim for adequate protein intake (about 0.8g per pound of body weight) and ensure you’re getting enough iron, biotin, and other key nutrients. Add gentle scalp massage and proper cleansing techniques until you see improvement.
- If your goal is regrowth after significant loss, you’re going to need a more comprehensive approach. You’ll want to be sure to address any underlying health issues, optimize nutrition, and possibly include treatments like minoxidil or low-level laser therapy.
- If your goal is addressing genetic hair loss, you’ll need a long-term strategy. This usually involves a combination of DHT management, scalp health optimization, and consistent maintenance routines.
What’s the Scientific Evidence for This Approach?
This is a HUGE topic and too big for just this blog post. It is especially clear from our clinical trials and customer success stories that a comprehensive approach is the best way to address hair loss. In our blog section, you’ll find links to multiple peer-reviewed studies on our key ingredients and their effectiveness in promoting hair growth.
Mainstream thinking would suggest that genetic hair loss can’t be effectively treated without medications, but this just isn’t true. Our medical board, led by well-known figures like Dr. Skopljak M.D., has extensive experience in combating hair loss naturally, and our clinical results speak for themselves. You can find detailed case studies and before/after results here, as well as our particularly groundbreaking research on Capilia Longa and growth stimulants.
The cliff notes version is that the evidence for natural hair loss interventions is strong when the right ingredients are used in the right concentrations. As you’ll learn from our research papers, proper formulation and ingredient quality make all the difference in effectiveness. Why would nature provide so many powerful hair growth compounds if they weren’t effective? This doesn’t make much sense to us, and we believe the ineffectiveness of natural treatments is often based on poor-quality ingredients or incorrect formulations.
With any hair regimen, we do think it is important to track progress regularly. If you’d like to know which measurements and assessments to track during your journey, you can find use our in-built tracking tool.
What Kind of Results Do People See?
Perhaps the best place to begin answering this question would be by examining our verified customer reviews and clinical studies. With our database of over 100,000+ happy & ongoing customers, we find that it takes at least 45 days to see reduction in hair loss and 150 days to activate new hair growth. But results are real.
More recent evidence of success can be found in our before and after database, showing impressive before and after results across different types of hair loss and various age groups. We maintain high documentation protocols, ensuring all photos are taken under similar lighting and positioning conditions for accurate comparison.
I hope this “start here” post has been helpful. There’s so much more to discuss about hair loss recovery, it’s my hope that our medically-reviewed blog can serve as a valuable resource for those struggling with hair loss.
